Barry Graves, Jr., born and raised in the Bay Area, has always been a performance artist and student of the arts. He began his writing and performance career in acting, Hip-Hop and poetry in elementary school and has been on a roll since. In 2000, he made his mark as an author of a book of poetry entitled, Young World, expressing the troubles, trials and triumphs many youth face around the globe.
In 2005, Barry joined Colored Ink's production of The Streets Have Re-Spoken, playing the role of Anthony, a troubled teen who commits murder, in hopes of being accepted and loved by his peers and the small world around him. It was a role, he described as, "raw... Saturated in the core of someone who has absolutely no reason to live, and sharing his life story with the world... A once in a lifetime experience!".
His love and thirst for the performance arts is one that goes unquenched. As for his role as "Anthony", he comments: "We were made for each other. His story is one that deserves to be told and, as long as there's a stage to tell it on, I'll be there telling it. There's much we can learn from Anthony, the man-child, the martyr, the boy who just wanted to be loved."
